The story of violence in Chicago is often told in the number of murders each year. But a truer picture of violence emerges in the number of shootings  that are four to five times the annual tally of murders. In the last four years alone, that's about 10,000 shootings that leave countless victims hobbled and the city's most besieged communities crippled by fear. In Fall 2015, our Convergence Project examined the numbers and the effect of shootings in Chicago as well as possible solutions while capturing the story in narrative writing, with  graphics and also through images and sound the story of a city under fire.

A sign at a church in south suburban Hazel Crest expresses the sentiment of an anti-violence march in fall 2015 led to the church's grounds by Delphine Cherry whose daughter and son were murdered 20 years apart.
